John: Here's a link to McAfee's "2000 Toolbox" web page.

mcafee.com

It does all that CSHK's tool does ... and more. It notifies you of Y2K problems with application software. It includes a virus checker, an image recovery tool, and a system performance monitor.

It also scans for and fixes 2 year date fields in your data files.

It's available on retail shelves. I looked at it last Friday while I was down in Phoenix. It's also available for purchase through McAfee's web site, appropriately named "McAfee Mall".

List price: $29.95. More functionality at a lower price.

CSHK will have difficulty competing with McAfee. They have one of the most well known virus checkers in the business, so they have a loyal customer following.

I've seen McAfee software up close and personal. They develop quality stuff. If CSHK hasn't really spiffed up their Y2K offering since I evaluated it a few months ago, potential clients will have no problem determining which of the two to buy.

My opinion only ...
