Yiwi,

Another interesting thing I noted about Dell.

For years, Dell has resisted using anything but the simplest, easiest to build boxes available. Not particularly pretty but very easy to assemble.

Just a month or two ago they switched over to a "pretty" case with integrated floppy drive slot, one less external drive bay, etc. These cases are generally tougher to deal with in manufacturing and can incur more significant support costs due to the increased difficulty in making everything fit, align perfectly, etc.

This is really not like them. "Pretty" has usually been reserved for consumer markets and particularly retail. We (HP) obviously have to do this kind of stuff as does CPQ and other retail competitors. Dell have always been thought to be immune, especially in their corporate sales.

That move and many other little ones like it would appear to foreshadow a stronger push into consumer markets, which will NOT improve growth rate or margins, IMO (though it will result in greater total revenue).

Not time to short the stock. It may never be time. However, I think that their growth has got to slow sometime in the next 3-4 quarters and that won't help the stock any.
