The company [Compaq] said the new approach would free distributors of the need to maintain a backlog of Compaq PCs, letting them
focus on technical services and support.


So why do they call them distributors?

Prediction: watch some of these guys become white box manufacturers and go after Compaq's sales base.

Just read 5er's boyz announcement. The part that blew me away is that on of those 5er boyz actually wrote this statement.

"Dell does not have a creative mind in that entire organization. They will be a fast follow," Fernander said.

It seems to me that if that were true, DELL would be trying to copy compaq. What a bunch of looooooosers. I remember during their last earnings report when one of 5er's other boys said that no company could prosper in Asia during this period, after DELL had already reported 34% growth there. Someone on the thread was right when they compared the 5er boys to MM
