Regarding the bandwidth allocated to satellite operators in
the Ka band, GEO and LEO satellites have the entire
28.35GHz to 30 GHz band, with more spectrum to be allocated
at higher frequencies. So satellite operators have plenty
of spectrum. If you read material posted on the Skybridge
and Cyberstar websites, you will see they plan to offer broadband
data services for $40 to $50 a month. expect therefore a ferocious
competition between terrestrial and satellite operators, with
terrestrial companies dominating in dense urban environments,
and satellite everywhere else.
