Come on, Webs, don't be so wishy-washy.

Building on our previous design of a cavity-dumped Ti:sapphire laser we recently succeeded in the construction of a compact all-solid-state cavity-dumped sub-5-fs laser. In our previous FOM-report we already noted the potential of our 13-fs cavity-dumped Ti:sapphire laser for compressing the output to ultrashort pulses. Figure 1a shows an interferometric autocorrelation of the shortest optical pulse obtained to date (4.6 fs) by using a novel high-throughput prism/chirped mirror/Gires-Tournois interferometer pulse compressor.
