They added the wind thing because it only seemed to appeal
to girls in its original form, according to the 'WIRED' article,
so that change doubled their target market (children 4-11)

Furby is made by Tiger Electronics which was taken over by
Hasbro in Feb 98. GRIN is primarily a toy distributor though they
have exclusive distribution rights for Furby in Canada so they
distribute to the Canadian outlets of TOYSRUS, Walmart etc.
