Hi Arthur,

Much going on. Trying to express in few words, salient points, responses etc. Jumped away to real world for a few hours. Back at desk handling myriad details not related to Dell and or stocks.

Way behind on other projects. Things going very well with me. Will be curtailing my participation on thread. I need to address other things. Time and use of same is always subjective. So I will respond to you now

Will be wrapping up with those that addressed me personally and on those things that I happened to see and particularly interest me.

Will post you PM probably before Friday.

Arthur not to jump in on this Dell/CPQ and to be fair why not throw in GTW's recent success and the remaking of IBM into mix, depending on your view, we may only see part of the picture. I know I am having real difficulty in trying to reasonably draw any diagrams in the sand.

Difficult for me to formulate a look around the curve (1999). Need more and better take on information.

Hip shoot take: All will do better through 1999.

Don't see CPQ getting their act together sufficiently in 1999 to seriously impact Dell. But probably will show that they are very formidable and do reasonable well on direct sales. Probably there is understanding that the old in channel direction is not the best for them. Given their current direction and position CPQ has a good opportunity to do better.

CPQ desire to emulate Dell Direct understandable and should be good for company. See CPQ's Digital thing very good for CPQ in 2000+. CPQ big time company with good forward potential.

If Dell did nothing but what it is currently doing I see enough evidence to say Dell will continue to grow almost 4 times more then the industry growth rate. Given that Dell has no intention to turn their current advantage over to anyone they are and continue to do better. They certainly will be in the hunt in 2000+ (understated).

From a few windows for 1999 at least, Dell is far and away the fastest stagecoach in the gold rush.
Mikeys stagecoach on dry land and going across China unencumbered. Dell has plenty of cash. Might do something big and important with it before 2000.

Most probably, in my thinking, what ever happens beyond that can be guessed at in a better fashion as we approach that 2000 mist.

IBM's Lou Gerstner one of the most impressive of CEO's. IBM benefited from masterful application of synergetic mind meld in recent memories. What is relatively unsung is the marvelous job Gerstner did to harness the think tank power in his organization.
All the kids in the stage coach pushing in one direction makes IBM big time factor with little downside in my view.

GTW entrance in Direct Sales is pretty good. They are doing better. Just not in same league with Dell but doesn't have to be. They just have to continue to get better.

Sounds rather bland, I know but from my short term trading preferences this is more then what I need! The sector is good, looks like it will continue to be good, at least through end of ‘ 99.

Sincere Regards,

QT
