Not a joke. I think there's a potentially large market for what the gurus call "Interactive Selling Systems". This is best typified by what Cisco has done using Calico's Concinity. Also Dell and Gateway. Basically, trusted partners/customers can configure and place their own orders, with no salesperson intervention. Product configurators allow the sale of more sophisticated systems over the web. If Oracle can integrate Concentra into its back-office systems (Manufacturing and Finance) then they'll have a pretty attractive package for companies that want to get into eCommerce, but have been reluctant to because of the complexity of their product offerings.
