Stop! You're both right!

Depends on the broker. Fidelity, for instance squares at the end of the day. As long as your under your limit at 4:00, nobody comes knocking. MB, on the other hand, won't let your trade go through if you don't have the cash. Datek will let the treade go through, then the send out Big Vinie in three days.

As long as what I bought, and then sold met the margin requirements I was told it would not be a problem (but then ofcourse, I have been given inaccurate information before, so I wouldn't swear to this unless I tried it out first hand).
