AMP - Good Position Trading Stock and general comments:
I have just discovered this thread, only to see it bordering on its demise. I certainly understand Tim's feelings and respect his desire to have personal time. I hope this thread will continue with the original goal as stated. so i offer some analysis on AMP,
AMP is a large manufacturer of electrical connections. It has not done well the past few years. ALD - Allied Signal - came in and offered to buy AMP for 44.50 cash, when the stock was in the low 30s.
AMP is located in Pennsylvania, and is trying to use PA's anti-takeover laws as well as its own poison pill. Right now it looks like ALD will succeed. AMP said today that it might put itself up for sale. Personally, i think AMP will seek a white knight or accept a higher offer from ALD. AMP does have a large stock buyback announced at $50/share i think. Larry
