Well, it's humiliating to be trampled by lemmings. Like being tickled to death by field mice.

I had a better time during the great silver mania--just sitting there with nothing tied up in it, saying, "I never thought I would get to see anything like this!"

But sitting here with a substantial fraction of the family fortunes tied up in Prudent Bear Fund, it gets more involved, especially with costs at Oberlin College running about $30,000 a year. I need a crash to make my daughter's education painless.

If only I could live long enough to see the historical perspective on the period we are living through! Clinton may get away with nothing more than having had a good time in the windowless corridor, whereas Greenspan may be seen in restrospect as having engineered the second-worst finanacial catastrophe of the century. By the time any real disaster is in place Clinton will be retired and drawing his pension. Who will pay his lawyers I would not know. Greenspan will be reposing in some mausoleum. And a whole new generation of ignoramuses will be trying to figure out what to do next.
