DRIV and y2k remediation???

Just found this news item on the "Newsbytes" from November 6. DRIV is apparently a business partner to a y2k-remediation related informaiton service! Anybody else see this?

RICHMOND, VIRGINIA, U.S.A., 1998 NOV 9 (Newsbytes) -- By Sylvia Dennis, Newsbytes. Correction to first Web address in second para. Just when you thought you had enough information streams coming in about the Year 2000 issue, Lantus Systems has unveiled its new Web site called (you guessed), the Y2K Informant.

According to officials with the Richmond-based Internet services company, which was only formed earlier this year, the Y2K Informant service, which is located at y2kcertified.com , with a mirror site at http:www.y2kinformant.com , is seeking to become a key resource for the Year 2000 issue.

Plans call for the free-to-access Web site service to cover Year 2000 preparedness issues, as well as reports, breaking news and opinions on the entire Year 2000 problem.

The service is financed by advertisers, Newsbytes notes and, according to company officials, the service has already attracted several key advertisers and sponsors, including The Wall Street Journal, Business Week, E*Trade, Smart Money Magazine, Bloomberg, Novell, and Nortel Networks.

According to Lantus Systems, content and Web site partners include Digital River, the e-commerce firm, as well as the Business Wire .

Not all of the site's services are free, Newsbytes notes. Alongside the main Year 2000 service, the Y2K Informant is offering four subscription services, ranging from a database containing corporate Year 2000 preparedness reports, to a Year 2000 news and opinions guide.

Launch prices start at $5.95 a year for a subscription to the Y2K news guide, to $495 a year for access to the Y2K Informant database of preparedness disclosures. All the paid-for services are being distributed to subscribers on a weekly basis, either as a database file or an Adobe PDF (page description format) file.

According to Charles Swaim, Lantus co=-founder and president, the company cannot imagine a single business, individual, financial consultant, investor, business owner, or IT manager who wouldn't benefit Y2K Informant.

"Whether you're an individual seeking to understand this wide ranging problem, or a business seeking Year 2000 corporate preparedness reports, the Y2K Informant offers the required information at extremely affordable prices," he explained.

Swaim went on to say that, because the service offers preparedness reports on more than 200 companies each week, capital firms, legal firms, and Year 2000 preparedness teams are expressing a keen interest in the Web site facilities.

To launch the Web site, Lantus is sponsoring a "Win an iMac" competition on its Web site, Newsbytes notes.
