Hi Sav,

nice run for wstl recently .. what do you think... buyout rumors/reality? have noticed recent thread speculation that fujitsu might be involved... might fit... many interesting angles (and not all bad for orctf)..
I don't believe any of the buyout rumors. I might think different if it was only Westell running but it is not. Awre is also on the move and what is interesting is when Westell rises 10 percent so does Awre in tandem. I just think there are a few funds that are looking for new places to park their money.

I think you are right about Westell needing to expand outside of the US. So ECI and Fujitsu may be attractive. I just don't think they will get more than $16, but who knows.

and yes i have noticed dr. tech's posts... and he sure doesn't like orctf.. ;)
Boy you got that right. The only company in the past he has said good things about is Pairgin. Just last night he posted in riddle form that the Wstl board is/maybe considering a marriage with a "fruity" profit company.

another of the doctor's orctf themes seems to be that orctf technical solutions are not up to the task.. here too, i am a little dubious as the recent dt win and lu alliance would seem to indicate otherwise..
Internal company propaganda tends to exaggerate the potential deficiencies of their competitors. For me those comments were water off a ducks back. As a side note, after bench tests, my Amati connection told me Orckits system was the only one they went away having strong respect for.

fwiw, to my mind, the best wstl info seems to have come from P1edPiper who took a lot of grief for delivering news straight up..
Yes and its too bad he does not come around anymore. The less mature people tend to shoo-away people like that once a bearish tone starts showing.

At any rate, the dr. posts are something to look for. He has called announcements and given info 2-14 days in advance. I can't think of anything that has not come true that he has posted up. This is what has bothered me with regards to the like of Orctf. (Even if I do have positive contradictory first hand evidence that Orckits system is good stuff). Now profitability is something else. The best he can do is guess by subtracting 5% off the wstl bid and fudge some production numbers which may be wildly different from reality. We will all know what the deal is 6 months from now.

Lets see now if that Wstl analyst comes out with a revised 13-15 target like the dr says.

See you around,
Eric
