Mobius Management Systems, Inc. and CheckFree Corporation Announce Partnership for Electronic Bill Presentment and Payment

RYE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 11, 1998--

Bundled Software and Services Offering Provides End-to-End Solution

Mobius Management Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq:MOBI), a leading provider of software for document archiving and Internet viewing, and Atlanta-based CheckFree Corporation (Nasdaq:CKFR), a leading provider of electronic commerce processing services, today announced an agreement to jointly develop and market a complete offering for electronic bill presentment and payment (EBPP). Under the terms of the agreement, both companies will market a bundled offering comprising Mobius's DocumentDirect(R) for the Internet software and CheckFree's payment and consolidation services, providing an end-to-end EBPP solution to billers and aggregators.

Mobius's DocumentDirect for the Internet/EBPP software leverages market-leading technology for bill archiving and retrieval, supporting the bill preparation and delivery phases of the EBPP cycle. CheckFree provides full payment capabilities, supplying audit trail data back to the Mobius archive for integration with the biller's customer support systems and completing a cohesive round-trip EBPP cycle.

"This comprehensive solution offers a single, integrated billing infrastructure that can simultaneously generate electronic or paper-based billing information, as well as provide payment processing and storage," said Mark A. Johnson, vice chairman, business development of CheckFree. Johnson explained that the two companies are installing Mobius software at CheckFree's ECenter, which will allow billers to outsource their billing operations backed by the Mobius/CheckFree solution. "Once a biller is up and running, they will always have the option of installing their own Mobius software and operating the system in-house."

"We're pleased to be working with the leading provider of billing and payment services in bringing this solution to billers, banks and service bureaus," said Mitchell Gross, president and CEO of Mobius Management Systems, Inc. "CheckFree and Mobius together have more than 30 years of experience in archiving, presenting and processing bills and payments for some of the largest organizations in the world. Our expertise will simplify EBPP implementation and provide competitive differentiation to our mutual customers."
