Big news? I think it was pretty much expected that Intel would push the Celeron A to 366Mhz before Christmas. All they had to do is clock multiply it to 5.5.
Pretty obvious that Intel wants to flood the market with Celerons. They want to stop AMD dead in it's tracks.
Look at the prices on Price watch. 300As for $108 and 333s for $118
So it's "bye bye" to the Pentium II-350.
Intels line looks like Celeron A 300A, 333, 366 and Pentium II-400 and 450, maybe 500 going into next year. In January they will likely introduce Socket 370 interface Celerons. The Dixon may be the next Pentium II or whatever if it's taken off the mobile platform. I expect the Katmai to debut at the end of February. Ho Hum...

Cringe - Re: " Could this be Intel's big Celeron news? "Intel's Celeron 366 MHz is just a breath away."

I wouldn't call that Big Celeron News - just the progression of higher clock speeds - at higher prices - so Intel can continue to drop prices on the 300 and 333 Celerons while maintaining a roughly constant overall ASP.

It will also position the Celeron up against the K6-2 366 and 380 and 400 MHz parts when they arrive - to make sure that the AMD parts command an ASP not much greater than Intel's 366 MHz Celery Chipper.
