And maybe never will.>>

People evolve from "monkey level" to intelligent level. Are you saying that you have never progressed beyond monkey level? Now I know why Intel design level is still monkey level:

1) Pentium Pro (copied from DEC)
2) Pentium Pro core with external L2= PII
3) PII without L2= Celeron
4) Celeron with 128K integrated L2=CeleronA
5) PII with full speed L2=Xeon
6) PII with 3D=Katmai
7) CeleronA with 256K=????
8) PII on 0.18=Coppermine
9) PII with 256K=Coppermine
10) Coppermine with fulll speed L2=Tanner

The only thing that is evolving is the name. At least the marketing people are evolving.

BTW: There was an article on Barrett. He is looking for a new law named after him. I'll give him a suggestion.

Gordon Moore= Moore Law

Andy Grove=Only the Paranoids Survive

Barrette Law= "If You Can't Beat Them Copy Exact Them" (finally got out from denial that sub-1000 never existed to joining AMD/Cyrix in
proliferating the sub-1000 market). This is great because technology
is finally progressing once again.
