Yeah I watched the claims unfurl on YAHOO and like many wondered whether or not the guy was blowing smoke.

"Moving forward, it's all about the integration of telephony and the Web, and we are working to make magicTalk the de facto standard as this integration takes place.''

This snippet from the PR makes me think again about MVIS:

mvis.com

Virtual Retinal Display™

"Unlike conventional display technologies (cathode ray tubes, liquid crystal and other flat panel displays) which must create images on an intermediary screen before they can be viewed, VRD technology takes advantage of the human visual system to project electronic information on the eye without the use of a screen of any kind. The device conveys the image by scanning an electronically encoded beam of light through the pupil to the retina, stimulating the receptors on the back of the eye. The user has the impression of viewing a high quality video image an arm's length away."

"VRD technology will be integrated into cellular phones and pagers, allowing users to tap into business networks or the Internet to view e-mail, web pages, faxes and files as if on a full-size desktop monitor. This ability affords greater convenience and utility to users of these devices."

3-4 years away IMO.
