John, thanks for your thoughtful post. Your right the issue should not be cloaked in politics but in science. Unfortunately the media have already staked their position is this one, so a frank honest look at scientific evidence will probably be tough to find.

Perhaps the Economist will do a thoughtful special edition on the subject. It's too bad we have to go overseas to get a decent balanced view of such an important issue.
