Any bank is competion for NTBK..not just
ONE..clearly a purely internet based bank
has a cost advantage over the traditional
bank..though there is some trade-off in
increased technology spending vs bricks and
motar savings...see non-interest expense on the
balance sheet and compare it with that of a
"regular" bank and you'll see what I mean...

NTBK will do just fine as long as it can retain
deposits and earn about 2% on Assets going forward.

I don't see it that way. I think that the Banc One thing will be merely a compliment to their traditional brick and mortar banking system.

When they start offering the higher interest rates that NetBank offers, then it might begin heating up. But don't forget NTBK has 15 employees, and ONE office compared to Banc One's thousands of employees and hundreds of offices.
