kirk, we shall see what transpires with intel. for the record, it is a fact that intel made more money in eps 2 years ago when it traded at $61. now it trades at $100 and makes less.

the yty comparison showed intel growing at a whopping 1-2%.

now, please tell me, all knowing semi guru, why these numbers are anything to get excited about ;-)

intel is a great company right now that mints money. my criteria is for eps growth at the right value. i see neither eps growth nor value. the risk in buying intel now is 70% more than 2 years ago.

my lgndw that i bought in august is up over 100%. does that mean lgnd won't go out of business someday? no. you see, i do not confuse stock price movements in the course of short periods of time to mean that much. stocks diverge from reality ALL THE TIME and only the naive think they don't.

the question is whether intel improves its eps growth. are the factors that caused this 2 year no eps growth slump somehow done away?

i think it is just as likely that they have picked up steam. that is what makes a market.

just know that if intel grows 1% for an extended period of time i, for one, will not be impressed like you so obviously are ;-)

btw, intel's markets are not like dram and flash markets. so, please don't use those markets to gauge against intel.

i speak facts, kirk. your apparent inability to accept them doesn't make me ignorant of the semi industry. in 1997, while mu was surging to yearly highs near $60, i was calling for a hideous 1998 dram market and wasn't to hot to trot on intel and their competitors. i'll show you the posts. that was the right business position to be in. the stocks, however, departed from a stagnant reality and kept moving up. so far... ;-) but, don't tell me reality is 70% better when intel makes less money per share than they did 2 years ago.

where are your posts saying 1998 would be a disaster for dram companies, mr semi guru ;-)
