Although not a daytrade...I suggest purchasing some oil stocks for the next week or so. My favorites are SLB and NE. Both are beaten down...and everyone expects oil to rise should a war break out. It's worth a shot..especially since they can't fall much more. NE trades at a p/e of 9. Good luck. What do you guys think?

Speculative play... IFMX. From Tuesdays news:

"Informix buzz: Hey, when you have a bunch of analysts in town, ride their coattails, right? After Oracle CEO Larry Ellison takes the stage at Oracle OpenWorld in San Francisco Tuesday, he'll brief Wall Street analysts at the database company's headquarters in Redwood Shores, Calif.

Leave it to little-guy Informix Corp. (IFMX) to grab the Wall Street crowd the next day, right at San Francisco International Airport just before the analysts head back to work. Early word is that Informix will unveil several large database deals and products that center on Internet commerce. Informix stock, at 6 1/2 or so, could pop to 8 1/2 if Informix CEO Bob Finocchio gets specific about new contracts with Baby Bell companies, one investment pro says. Informix reported a third-quarter profit of $18.4 million vs. a $110.5 million loss in the same time period a year ago."

For the six months ended 6/98, revenues rose 1% to $335.2 million. Net income applicable to Common totalled $10.9 million vs. a loss of $255.5 million. Results reflect growth in the installed customer base and the absence of $97.1 million in write-offs and charges.

Recent Earnings Announcement

For the 3 months ended 09/30/98, revenues were 185,211; after tax earnings were 19,018.

I'm in at 6 1/8.... now lets see which way the wind blows.
