Advanced Micro sees rising sales from new products

Reuters Story - November 12, 1998 14:46

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Nov 12 (Reuters) - Advanced Micro Devices Inc Chief Executive Jerry Sanders on Thursday forecast
increasing sales in upcoming years as the maker of computer microchips brings out more products to compete against rival Intel
Corp.

Speaking at a meeting with financial analysts here, Sanders said revenue in 1999 could be $3.7 billion, rising to $4.4 billion in
2000 and $5.8 billion the following year.

The revenue figures are based on industry growth rates and Advanced Micro's own production estimates for its K-6
microprocessors.

Through nine months of 1998, AMD generated $1.75 billion in sales compared with $1.74 billion one year ago.

Sanders also said gross margin for 1999 should be 40 percent to 45 percent.
