"just what is the likelihood of MT being licensed as the VUI for a major portal like Yahoo"

IMHO the likelihood is high and these portals move fast (not like carriers) so it really could get interesting from here.

I base this on the fact that portals were ALWAYS viewed as a definite channel option (GMGC mentioned them somewhere back in May) by savvy investors and the Quicken deal (such good news, wake up people).

As you say it is a natural play, and yes a tough one to negotiate. BUT, the Intuit/Quicken deal proves that GMGC can offer what is required. Intuit are a smart company and a major (international) vertical and if they are convinced I see nothing blocking other portals.

Most likely 'horizontal' portal candidates are:
- Excite (I always thought they or InfoSeek were the best fit anyway) the strong Intuit connection is there now.
or AOL (not just because of the AOL rumour but because GMGC/Markman obviously has great respect for them (he cites them as GMGC's role model) so I'm sure they would be top of his list to target hard.

I don't think you'll see Yahoo but either of the above would be a little boost to the share price I think... :)

BTW, 'vertical' portals should be easier to swing post-Intuit. Think of major sports, entertainment, retail portals etc. These are your verticals (they've covered financial with Quicken). Remember GMGC's Web-On-Call technology and there strong E-Commerce links (and E-Commerce enabling agent technology) and the retail options get interesting and lucrative.

Anyway, enough 'cheerleading'. Just feeling a little brighter today to see that the earnings were already discounted into the price. I really can't see much downside from here on.

Good luck all longs (and Ray whatever short-term position you choose but stop hanging for that 3, I think 5 - 5.5 is the best you'll find).
