3Dlabs Ships New Oxygen RPM Workstation 3D Graphics Accelerator
Mid-Range Oxygen Card Delivers Cost-Effective OpenGL Performance and 64MB of
Graphics Memory for Windows NT Workstations;
PowerThreads Drivers Boost Geometry Performance;
Certified for Leading Professional Graphics Applications
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Nov. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- 3Dlabs(R), Inc. (Nasdaq: TDDDF)
today announced immediate availability of 3Dlabs' Oxygen(TM) RPM, a mid-range
addition to the Oxygen family of 3D graphics accelerator boards for Windows
NT(R) workstations. Oxygen RPM makes cutting-edge 3D graphics silicon and
software technology available to graphics professionals at a new, accessible
price point. The suggested list price of Oxygen RPM is $1,499.
"While Oxygen GMX brought the performance of integrated geometry
processing to high-end workstation graphics, now Oxygen RPM leverages our
exclusive PowerThreads(TM) drivers to harness the power of multiple CPUs for
affordable geometry acceleration in mid-range professional 3D solutions," said
Neil Trevett, vice president of workstation products at 3Dlabs. "For the
first time, cutting-edge graphics technology is accessible to graphics
professionals on a budget. Oxygen RPM's professional-class feature set
provides compelling reasons to upgrade from PERMEDIA(R) 2-based entry-level
solutions."
Please refer to 3Dlabs' Web site at 3dlabs.com for more
information on the recently announced Oxygen upgrade program.
Additionally, Oxygen RPM is certified for use with all leading
professional graphics applications, including Pro/ENGINEER(R) by Parametric
Technology Corporation, 3D Studio MAX(R) from Kinetix Corporation and
SolidWorks(TM) from SolidWorks, Inc.
Oxygen RPM Information
Oxygen RPM uses two parallel graphics processors and 64Mbytes of unified
SDRAM graphics memory to provide true-color, high-resolution displays up to
1600 x 1200, and high-precision 24-bit Z-buffering on a single-slot AGP card.
Featuring dual RAMDACs, Oxygen RPM can drive two fully-accelerated displays
with a virtual desktop running across both screens.
Oxygen RPM takes advantage of 3Dlabs' exclusive PowerThreads driver for
optimized OpenGL(R) performance by utilizing the power of multiple CPUs to
boost geometry performance to a level above that of other mid-range
workstation solutions. For example, Oxygen RPM running on a dual-CPU system
is capable of rendering two million polygons-per-second (50% backface removed,
25 pixel, 24-bit color and Z), delivers a CDRS-03 score of 76, and achieves a
Pro/E Magazine GBench 97 score of 66.
