I don't think he is that stupido. If found out and it would not be too long, he would be attacked in full force until unconditional surrender. As Long as Amerika controls the skies they will be able to attack with impunity. He also runs the risk of the SU/RU joining in in a holy war against the possibility he may go north. I think he would be wise to stick to the standard rules of engagement, whatever they are.

Hold Ursa!
Last Signal Buy Ursa 11/9/98

Oil stocks are keeping the Dow afloat today but it is unlikely that US/Iraq tensions are affecting stocks much beyond oil concerns. Focus is on the Fed's interest rate meeting next Tuesday so buying interest (our risk in this short position in Ursa) is minimal ahead of that event and the weekend. The imminent Fed meeting should also keep a cap on those chasing tech stocks in hopes of bettering their year-to-date under-performances.

It appears that Huissen will not comply and that we will attack over the weekend. Contrary to logic (which the stock market often is), stocks rally on outbreaks of war. Particularly in this case, another attack might well be preceived as a move toward finally defeating this regime once and for all. Investors tend to idealize but Buy Signals never issues recommendations based upon wishful thinking. Signals will almost assuredly assume the conservative posture of cash for the weekend.

The four-day gold stocks sell-off was sufficient to retest the validity of last week's two-day 13.2% gain; however, with Friday on the horizon and buying conviction yet to be confirmed, it may be unwise to chase today's strength. 'Wave relevancy' suggests that XAU 83 (now 81) is a reasonable minimum upside target but that could satisfied intra-day and still allow for a weak Friday close tomorrow. This latest strength would gain credibility with a close above 83.
