Okay. I was trying to suggest that (the idea of) self-determination and religious doctrine can be hard to reconcile. No offense intended.

As for what I'm arguing about - an idea so broad it's hard to pin down. It goes something like this: Each of us has some pretty deep convictions about ethics. These can color our thinking in ways we don't easily see. To my eyes, Brees embedded three ideas in his post which got me thinking. I tried (and failed) to start a dialog about these ideas and whether or not they really were universal.
