Sorry, sorry, sorry.

The issue was sex education vs just telling the kids not to do "it." We had agreement at one time that neither is a solution to anything and in fact amounts to what I termed "handing children social grenades." You said the issue "is a poser." I agree and am making the argument with several people on the thread that any educational solution at this point is dishonest in its hypocrisy. On the one hand we have a society that in every way contradicts the notion that sexuality should not be acted out without restraint. On the other hand you have the notion of social relationships that are standards based. Underlying the whole thing you have self-perpetuating groups, championing a world view that has win at all costs motives.

OK, then I guess I waxed pompous in my criticism of society in general. Is that forgivable? revolution please

<<For example, what exactly do you mean when you say:

1) "Our society is contaminated with pervasive and endemic injustice regarding the wellbeing of its members"?? Surely there has to be a simpler way to express your thought. ;_)>>

In the context of our original conversation (teenagers), we can see the social ills manifest on the members of our society. That being: Teen parenting, STDs, millions of abortions, etc. We are unable to resolve this at the current level of influence. Its getting worse and worse. We don't seem willing to step out of the box to look for a solution. If you were an outsider you would laugh at our incompetence in light of the way we constantly puff our super power chests out. I honestly think this is touching every aspect of our society. As a witness to the champions of platforms, I believe the party platform is typically more important that the citizenry it was established to serve.

<<2) "..We are so fascinated by our own affection for its marvel and we so tremble for its columns of grandeur..." ??>>

We've turned into a nation of hopeless sycophants.

<<And how can conscience have "grass roots"? Perhaps you mean the reverse?>>

There must be an American consciousness that has commonality. It could never be tapped at the political level because of the institutional divisiveness. Grass roots represents something that is at the foundation of us all. At the local level, conscience based groudwork needs to be laid.

revolution please
