Finally I'm happy I did not get the hazzle to short some at 10. If so I eventually would have turned round at 12-14 as I sometimes did earlier.

About the 2nd wave:

In the afternoon AVCO was mentioned on CNBC, and that it "uses" ADSL technology which can achieve data transfer rates at the 50fold level present modems do over simple copper lines.
Eventually, AVCO closed at 38!! at the instinet.

This ADSL story is true to some extent, my brother here in Austria uses ADSL technology in his private company network, giving 768k which is 12x 64k ISDN over one line. So it offers a dirt cheap solution for rather fast intranet networks (The expensive alternative was using fiber optic cable).

My brother was of the opinion that any faster wire line technology is the dead for fiber optics but only for the frontends. The backbones will need fiber optics for capacity and stability reasons.

Still AVCO operates in the St. Barbara Area and is a small ISP, not a technology co. I'm not sure whether this market cap is justfied. But after the strong aftermarket reaction, it could go tomorrow father. Talks are $50 - $70, like earthlink.

That said, the Datek guy I contacted in the afternoon told me he will look for the permission to put it on margin, which should improve the market liquidity for AVCO. At datek there seem to be shares in the accounts they can lend for a short time.
