Nov 12, 1998 (6:31 PM ET) - The Motley Fool Evening News

Tired of watching the same old Internet stocks rise like rockets day after
day? Another company joined the fray today by sending forth an
eye-catching press release advertising Internet access "50 Times Faster
Than Conventional Modems." Broadband network systems company
AvTel Communications (Nasdaq:AVCO - news) shot up $28 3/4, or
1277.8%, to $31 today after it announced the launch of its DSLink
Service, now available to everyone -- in downtown Santa Barbara,
California that is. Growth is on the way, however, as the service should
be expanded to include such Golden State metropolises as Goleta and
Carpinteria by the end of the month.

Rory,

I actually have no position either. I sure wish I would have pulled the trigger at 4 1/2 when I read about this stock on Briefing.com. Oh well. Who knows where the stock is going know, and when it will trade again with the halt. Maybe its better that I did not place an order.

I will watch this one. It was fun today.

Good luck all.
