Melissa:

I really have to disagree. ADSL technology is not new - BellSouth has been piloting implementation of ADSL in Birmingham for some time now. And as you indicate, they control the copper.

Regardless, this run-up in AVCO is a joke. But I wish I had heard about the blast off when it was discussed on CNBC at 4+!!!! This will be a great short, but timing will be everything!

Good trading!

Melissa,

Take a look at the date I joined SI....that's when I started investing in AMTX, Amati Communications (now part of TXN). That's when I thought ADSL was new...it actually wasn't new then...either!

The RBOC have been dragging their feet for 3 years. Meantime, ADSL has morphed into ADSL lite, and a whole host of other things...it's not going to be easy to get it into the home, and cable is moving very fast.

There was an interesting piece by Mr. Metcalf (inventor of ethernet..) in InforWorld not to long ago. Why ADSL-lite would fail. Very interesting...

Regards,

Steve
