I spent most of today at a seminar on broadband services and the @Work network (part of the @Home network). Bandwidth is going to be bursting sooner than most think (but much later than it should have). The competition from @Home is going to make the RBOC's push up their plans for higher bandwidth solutions to the home, such as ADSL. To be honest, the RBOC's could have increased comsumer bandwidth years ago, but without any competing services there was no need for them to do so. But now, with the competition from @Home, wireless, and independent fiber service providers (like RCN), the RBOC's are starting to deploy other options.
