Ram, Mercury Research reported that CRUS leads in audio IC units shipment is misleading since they counted the jelly bean AC-97 CODEC units as well. In fact, ESS still leads in ISA audio as well as the emerging PCI audio DC-97 controllers. On the other hand,I will not be surprised a bit if Cirrus might exit from the PCI audio controller altogether. By that time, ESS will fight with its old pals: Yamaha and Creative Labs in the audio. Cirrus Logic is putting more emphasis on storage product that includes DVD-ROM. This has some overlap with Oak Technology. How interesting that the companies in the Silicon Valley compete with one another in the mass market. Steve
