Techie, Your argument about internet stock valuation reflects reality w/o doubt. I hold YHOO, AMZN and AOL calls too. But uncertainty, hype and market manipulation resulting from small floats may not be used to justify valuation (almost by definition IMO). Well, perhaps you may include uncertainty from an OPT model POV but, w/o going into the details, that cuts both ways.

I agree with you that DELL is not an Internet stock. Which is why I asked the thread earlier what the benefits are for increased Internet sales vs. increased sales via any other media. But, given that DELL has a relatively small market share which it is consistently growing, it will take a while for DELL's market share growth to dwindle to that of the overall PC market and even that is growing at a not too shabby rate (better than Coke's earnings, for example). Comparisons to the peer group are not entirely valid as their internal ROICs are nowhere near that of DELL (check them out, you may be surprised).

EBAY stock may well outperform DELL in future, but that doesn't say anything about EBAY's or DELL's valuations.
