NEPF: Given what has happened of late with GERN and ENMD, logic based on science is perhaps the last thing that you want to hear. If you look in the GERN thread for last week, you'll see that I got wind of the story as the stock was at 8 and change, up one and change. I elected to stand clear of the action, feeling that the observation was worth about $2/share. I was correct, but the sucker is going a circuitous route that I would have enjoyed traveling. For OXGN, I was holding a decent stake, but I sold just as things were getting rolling in the morning. So..... you should stop reading now, and just go with your gut....... spacer spacer spacer spacer The ACT/GZTC collaboration is unrelated to the technical advance that was described on 24 Hours. The program wasn't even remotely related to GZTC. The story is very interesting. The companies that are working on patient-specific derivation of stem cell (EC cell) cultures are clearly barking up the correct tree. OTOH.... the company representative proposed being able, within a year, to push the cultures in a direction which will successfully mimic a tissue. Don't hold your breath. Last note.... the entire show just screamed BioTransplant. I know that you're looking for good charts and news, but please study BTRN. No hurry, it's not going anywhere. But..... we can go on with our frantic trading, and we can probably make a really good living doing such. Or, we can buy a bunch of stocks like BTRN, go on vacation for five years, and do a bit better. In about two months, people are going to be stuck with the same conclusions..... our society is aging, transplants can restore a degree of health/youth, and the current costs of "maintenance of the otherwise dead" (e.g., dialysis) are enormous. They will then realize that GERN is Star Wars, but that inbred and transgenic pig donors are right around the corner. BTRN even has its own stem cell program, the collaboration with Stem Cell Sciences, Pty. It's a rational program, BTW. Theirs, not Novartis'. Now I just need a way to finance that five year vacation. Details, details. :-) Rick
