The report by O'Brien was just so hopelessly clueless. It boggles the mind to think that people are paid for such drivel.

Someone on this thread pointed out that the price is driven by momentum, and not meeting the whisper number was enough to throw the momentum into reverse. It's a volatile stock, prone to quick reversals -- everyone knows that. It's still a long-term hold, for those buy-and-holders out there (and in the long run, they may do better than the traders), but to suggest that it would go up after such a report, and moreover, carry others up with it, is just confoundingly moronic.

Even the foolish Fools suggested in their Evening News report that it was a great earnings report, and that DELL went down only because of nervousness about the report before the close. But it was clear from the after-hours trading that the stock was going to plummet.

Of course, it's easy to see it all in hindsight, but others saw it coming. After Kumar had his little say on CNBS, it wasn't worth the risk.
