CyberOffice Technologies Announces Companion Product to Microsoft Project 98 November 17, 1998 LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)
CyberOfficProject+(tm) facilitates remote project
management using Web, telephony, and wireless
messaging technologies
COMDEX, BOOTH no. L6420--CyberOffice Technologies, LLC introduces CyberOffice Project+(tm), a new software program integrating Microsoft(R) Project 98 with the latest advances in Web, telephony, and wireless messaging technologies. Designed to promote constant two-way communication between project managers and their resources, CyberOffice Project+ offers a new level of project management.
CyberOffice Project+ frees project managers from the burden of constantly checking the status of project tasks. At the same time, it keeps them constantly informed of any changes or delays by sending automatic alerts, notifications and updates--whether the project manager is in the office or at a remote site. CyberOffice Project+ works in conjunction with Microsoft Project 98, the widely used project management software with an installed base of over 2 million users worldwide.
"The widespread use of Microsoft Project 98 and the need for a program that provides remote management prompted the creation of CyberOffice Project+, " said Daryl Bibens, chief operating officer of CyberOffice Technologies. "Although Microsoft Project 98 is installed around the world, it's only effective for people organizing tasks within an office environment. As a companion product to Microsoft Project 98, CyberOffice Project+ helps people manage projects remotely."
According to Bibens, CyberOffice Project+ saves managers valuable time by allowing them to communicate with their project team outside of the office environment.
"For example, until now construction managers had to spend time on the phone with builders, concrete companies and lumber yards to find out if things were getting done on time," he explains. "With CyberOffice Project+, resources can update their portion of the tasks through the nearest telephone, or over the Internet, without the involvement of the project manager."
By incorporating the latest advances in remote communications technologies with Microsoft Project 98, CyberOffice Project+ gives a project manager constant accessibility and control over a project. Once the project manager outlines the project tasks, identifies resources, and determines each task's start and end date, CyberOffice Project+ takes over.
First, the program automatically reminds a resource of an impending task through a wireless messaging text or telephone message. When the resource receives the message, a reply can be sent by pressing a number on the pager or telephone to relay whether or not the task will start on time. CyberOffice Project+ processes that reply, updates the project outline accordingly, notifies the project manager, and makes the updated project plan available to the team via the Internet. CyberOffice Project+ also automatically notifies the project manager when a task is completed or delayed, or when a critical resource does not respond with the necessary information.
"The remote management capabilities CyberOffice Project+ offers will impact a company's efficiency dramatically," says Jose Villalobos, director of new product development at CyberOffice Technologies. "With CyberOffice Project+, a manager can be anywhere in the world and find out a task's status simply by picking up the phone, using the Web, or looking at a pager. CyberOffice Project+ can manage hundreds or even thousands of tasks and resources disseminated over multiple and far away sites. Ultimately, CyberOffice Project+ reduces labor, material, and operating costs by preventing unnecessary delays. The end result is proactive, rather than reactive, project management."
