Dell Computer Corp. (DELL) plunged 5 to 64 1/4 in European trading after the personal-computer maker said fiscal third- quarter profit rose 55 percent and sales climbed 51 percent, less than some forecasts. Dell reported results after the close of trading in New York yesterday. Earnings for the third quarter ended Nov. 1 rose to 28 cents a share, boosted by strong sales in Asia and via the Internet.
