FWIW, Briefing.com is reporting this bit of "rumor" this afternoon. Lucent Technologies Inc. (LU) 84 3/16 -1 5/8: according to market scuttle-butt, telecommunications equipment maker is rumored to be interested in acquiring Analog Devices (ADI 23 1/4 +3/4) instead of Ascend Communications (ASND 53 1/16 -1 1/16); Ascend has been rumored to be a takeover target for some time.....
