The Truth, yours points are well taken, however, Dell's execution when it comes to managing their inventory, internet sales, product delivery and customer service compared to IBM, CPQ and GTW, is overwhelmingly superior. CPQ and the others may never catch up with DELL on these facets of their business.

Considering Dell's worldwide market share is only in the single digits and their flawless execution so far, I think the best is yet to come.

Regards,
Marty

Please sell low so I can buy cheap! The CPQs of the world have tried before and failed. What a great company.

I will be back in as soon as I see a market drop. Don't count on CPQ cutting into them. As long as CPQ or others sell though resellers, they are hopelessly compromised in the Direct Business. Dell has all of their experience in Direct sales, and have worked the bugs out. You can expect any increase at CPQ or others in direct to come at a major cost to their bottom line, as they have to learn the direct business while trying to keep their resellers happy. If they don't sell at a price below their resellers, why bother with going direct with them, and If they undercut their resellers, they get nailed by them. Its a no-win situation to try to go both ways in the market. That is why Dell is going to continue to win.
