Looks like another one of those absolutely arrogant assumptions that the Republicans are so good at making. Prior to the recent elections, they said that Clinton supporters would be too lazy to go and vote, and now they are forced to sing a different tune -- that too many "idiots" voted on November 3rd! :-)

As a rule, public memory might be short, but it is always dangerous to hazard a guess on which issues are forgotten faster and which ones linger in the people's minds.

Let the Republicans not assume that things would be OK for them even if they drag the country through the impeachment muck for another 9 or 10 months. If there is one lesson to be learnt from the recent elections, it is to never, ever, ever underestimate the intelligence of the public. However, one can see why it is so hard for the "Look, I will tell you what to do" Republicans...
