ratan: don't know the depth of your personal experience, but as you get older and more experienced, you will see that very few companies are really doing the right thing. and I know this may sound very simplistic to you.

You may have point but.....

Ratan: You may have a point, but what gets me is his incessant yapping by picking on just one minor point in the large picture and dwelling on this little desktop thing which is not even that significant considering DELL's changing product mix. I didn't see him compare the company to its peers, I didn't see him comparing this
'alarming' concern of his to any other aspects of the company,it was as though he wanted to put the company in a very negative light in the eyes of the public.

Perhaps he did discuss all that in his report to his paying customers which I am not so my argument also could be wrong. All I saw was what came out in the press and all they published was the 'negatives' and we all know how the press is,right.<g>

ratan lal,
Hi!!! The comments about Kumar are not fully explained in this post...sitting on both sides is not a position one should take...unless of course you're a politician....

<<None of us here are in the biz of doing research. We have NO access to any data. And I am sure it takes a lot of work to get the data and then analyze it properly to come up with the right answer.>>

This statement is anything but true.... :o)

Best, Kemble

He was right on the money about earnings AND he DID NOT downgrade DELL.
With Dell growing 50% a quarter there is no reason not to expect the usual 200% gain in stock price. Someday there won't be anyone left to sell computers to and that will end. The technology network/computer/switching/e-commerce positive feedback loop is still getting started and anyone who jumps out now will miss several years of exceptional gains (Not just in Dell).
