Kemble, re:<<...something that someone very close to me recently said: "what is your exit plan, Kemble?" ....well, that is a concern....>> Let me share a personal experience with you. As you may or may not know, I spent my career in the computer field. In the 60's (yes, the 1960's <ggg>) I was in engineering and working on the development of an integrated circuit. This was the first I/C that we were going to design into a computer then under development. As part of this project, we were working with a number of semiconductor companies. On of the companies was Fairchild Semiconductor (long out of business). There were a few young engineers at Fairchild who decided to leave and form their own company. They name their new company Intel. A few years later, while talking to some of my buddies, another one of our engineers came up and told us that Intel had just gone public. The rest is history.

Looking forward, is Dell going to perform as Intel has? Of course I don't know, and only time will tell. IMO, as long as Dell's management stays with the company, their business model remains "state of the art", and they execute as in the past, I don't think an exit strategy is something to be concerned about.

One thing to consider is the taking of profits as the company grows. Michael Dell and his executives do this everytime you read about their stock sales. We, as individual investors, should consider the same approach. I guess this is some form of an exit strategy...but, it not a bail out of the company.
