ADAPTEC PARTNERS WITH DELL FOR NEW 64-BIT RAID TECHNOLOGY

TP:
Check this out and see if there is anything interesting going on with this.
====================================================

MILPITAS, CALIF. (Nov. 12) BUSINESS WIRE -Nov. 12, 1998--Adaptec, Inc. today announced a relationship with Dell Computer Corp. to develop new 64-bit PCI RAID controller technology, which will be used to improve the I/O performance of network servers.

Both Adaptec and Dell will use the resulting technology to provide 64-bit PCI RAID controller cards to their customers. The 64-bit PCI-to-Ultra2 SCSI RAID technology is designed to offer the highest capacity and I/O throughput of any host-based RAID controller available, with bandwidth to drive up to 4 channels of high performance SCSI LVD I/O.

"Dell has worked with Adaptec to develop technology that will provide our customers with a significant performance increase over previous generations of RAID technology and features to support their system availability needs," said Bob Van Steenberg, vice president of enterprise servers for Dell.

"We recognize Adaptec as a leader in I/O controller and storage solutions, and our choice to work with Adaptec underscores our commitment to providing Dell customers with solutions based on the very best technology available."

"The server industry is seeing regular increases in processor speeds, but I/O bandwidth simply hasn't kept pace," said Tom Marmen, vice president of Adaptec's Enterprise Solutions Group.

"As the leader in I/O solutions, Adaptec anticipated the industry shift to 64-bit PCI, and met this opportunity head-on with our 64-bit RAID controller technology. Dell continues to set new standards for enterprise server systems, and we are excited that they have chosen Adaptec's 64-bit RAID technology for their PowerEdge servers."

About Adaptec:

Adaptec provides bandwidth management technologies for organizations building the global information infrastructure. Its high-performance I/O, connectivity, and network products are incorporated into the systems and products of major computer and peripheral manufacturers.

Founded in 1981 and headquartered in Milpitas, Calif., Adaptec (Nasdaq:ADPT) employs people worldwide in design, manufacturing, sales, service and distribution. Adaptec's home page is adaptec.com.

TigerPaw, I think you are being very naive. The options I am talking about go to people like Michael Dell and Tom Meredith. And if you looked at the practice carefully (you can pull this stuff off of Yahoo under insider) you will see that the practice goes something like this (these are made up):

XYZ exercised options on 10,000 shares at $5.00
XYZ planned sale of 10,000 shares
XYZ sold 10,000 shares at $68

My offhand guess is that's where 90% of the options go.

I will show you in a later post some real numbers.

TigerPaw, here is the cleanest example of what I'm talking about. But make no mistake about it. This is where the action is on employee stock options.

What I want to know is why this kind of thing doesn't make every investor furious?
