That's fine, Alan. The carbon budget is not exactly a neglected topic of research. Do you have any evidence that the volcanic contribution is not properly accounted for? Do you think the rise in atmospheric CO2 in modern times is due to volcanoes? Are we going to plug up volcanoes as a planetary engineering fix to global warming? If anybody cares, there's plenty of coverage of this at, you know, my favorite elitist liberal media site. See nytimes.com, where unfortunately the most recent story doesn't look good for the "do something about it" side. Climate Pact: Health Care Revisited? nytimes.com Bummer. Our health care system is still broken enough, with no cost control on the horizon and plenty of people falling through the cracks. As I've posted before, I'd guess greenhouse gases will go much the same way, politically, with things getting worse before any possibility of getting better. A scary experiment, but probably the only totally convincing one possible. Cheers, Dan.
