Bob,

SI is my home page, so I went into where Netscape stores the home page info and typed it in there. It works great! As soon as I start by bowser, there I am. However, I noticed that every SI page I go to has my user name and password in the location window. People need to be cautioned if they copy this into a post to form a link, they just posted their user name and password into a public post.

Bob,

People should also be aware that when they click on a link in a message, that site can see their username and password. It is recorded in their logs as user from: myname:mypassword@talk.techstocks.com

I.E. I could set up a web site and then post it here. Anybody that clicks on the link with the above setup would be giving me their username and password.

NOTE: This only applies if you have your username and password in the URL.

Hi Bob - I see articles like this all the time - this one was in Fortune:

Today message boards have flourished with the rise of sites like Silicon Investor, which is devoted to tech stocks.

At the risk of sounding like a heretic, do you think SI will ever change its name to something that is more reflective of what it actually does - which is hosting discussion forums about not just tech stocks, but virtually every stock that's out there?

hi Bob, maybe you can answer the question in clearer terms.

Brad's words But a cookie set by *.techstocks.com cannot be viewed by *.yahoo.com or even *.go2net.com. The browser will only give the cookie back to a server that is of the domain that set it.

Is this statement still true?

p.s. had I known my profile was going to be plastered all over GNET site, I would have been more careful of my choices in vocabulary. Nice you folks decided to inform us about the new events talking place with Silicon Investor.

cheers

Bob. I tried this (the post I am answering) and it works very well, however, it seems to reset all the colours to blue, and makes it difficult to determine what messages you have read on a particular thread. Is there a work-around for this?
