Not sure about the specifics on query times, however, in the past I have seen Essbase proclaimed as the leader (gartner, etc).

What I do know is that the stock tanked at the end of the day today. anyone have any idea what's happening?

The Oracle benchmarking ad is extremely misleading, which is why you are rightly confused. In the ad Oracle is comparing their latest results on a Sun E450 server to older Hyperion Essbase results on a Windows NT server. And Oracle only discloses the time for the query phase of the benchmark, which is only one of the three phases of the benchmark.

The new Hyperion Essbase benchmark announced today is also on a Sun E450 server, so you can get a lot closer to an apples to apples comparison.

There are full disclosure documents on the Hyperion Web Site,
in particular the document at
hyperion.com
that might help you understand what is going on.
