I wonder how much of this tempest relates to the Wall Street Journal (the largest national newspaper) being ticked off that the New YorK Times(the largest national newspaper wanna-be) invaded the WSJ's business territory with a huge stock-moving article on SUNDAY (when the Journal doesn't publish).

Do the stockbrokers around the country now need to subscribe to the Sunday NYTimes? No doubt many of them wished they did subscribe when this story broke. So now the WSJ publishes a MIDWEEK article saying indirectly that the NYTimes article was just hooey, no need to subscribe to that rag. The NYTimes then comes in and defends their story.
