Friday the 13th?! Saddam Hussein?! Who cares?! Stocks
climbed briskly on Friday. The Dow was up almost 90, to
8919, while NASDAQ was down 3, to 1847. Here's what's
up:

RECORD-BREAKING IPO.... So this company theglobe.com
went public today. Came out at $9. Went to $97!!!!
Really. Then closed at $63!! Up $54!!!! And what is
theglobe.com? Looks like just a Yahooie, build-your-own
home page thing to me! BTW, the New York-based company
beat Broadcast.com for the biggest gain ever for an
IPO. Avtel went to THE MOON!!!! And then it was halted.
K-Tel dropped $8, to $19. Eventually all this Internet
madness will end. But not this month!!
