Myz: Normally I will sell into strength on a major gap up from the previous day. I will watch the action to make sure it isn't going to run. If the Market Makers can't reign in the stock and pull it back, it will continue to run. They must keep a fair market in all issues. But they will pull it back, shake out weak hands, and buy low. Normally, if the stock is still strong, it will run starting between 7:00 AM and 7:10 AM (Pacific Time).

Normally, if I sell into the gap, it is 3-5 minutes in and I am willing to sacrifice a small % to make sure it isn't going to run. But you can, most often, pick it back up 10-20 minutes later much cheaper....not always though.

Short Position - There are a number of different locations to get the info. I use quote.yahoo.com. They don't update as frequently as I like but enough to get a picture. Get a detailed quote and click on "profile", the short shares are in the lower right.
