Ice, I buy 1 share of ABC at $100. It goes up $1. I made a buck.
I buy 2 shares of DEF at $50. The stock goes up $0.50. I made
a buck. Etc. Each time I invested $100. Each time I made $1.

I'm almost embarrassed to point this out.

But, for a trader it makes sense to look for
volatile stocks. Are high priced stocks less volatile
than low priced stocks? That would be an interesting study.
